Brendan Rodgers has described Liverpool’s Anfield pitch as ‘awful’, whilst warning his side may have to put up with it for another year at least.

The Northern Irishman has consistently criticised the pitch this season, but with redevelopment going on at the stadium over the summer months, the club might find there is little they can do about it.

Rodgers has called the surface ‘awful’ and this week said: ‘We need to do something about the pitch because we need a better pitch if we are going to play the game we are playing.’

The club’s owners acknowledge it is a problem that needs resolving, but with cranes scheduled to be on the surface for reconstruction during the summer months, Liverpool may have to wait until the new main stand opens in 2016 before relaying the pitch.

The current surface was given a 10 year life span, and is now in fact 14 years old.

Yes we will have to put up with the awful pitch, just like we have to put up with this awful manager.
