Liverpool have been dealt a major injury blow the with news that Raheem Sterling is set to join Lucas Leiva on the sidelines for the home clash against fellow top four challengers Tottenham.

Sterling is the Reds joint top goalscorer this season with nine goals in all competitons, and scored and delivered a man of the match performance in the 3-0 win at White Hart Lane earlier in the season.

The 20-year-old was taken off with 10 minutes remaining of Saturday’s Merseyside derby with a knock on the foot.

And his inability to shake the injury off means Daniel Sturridge is almost certain to make his first start in more than five months – his last ironically coming in that 3-0 win over Tottenham in August.

Predicted line up: 3-4-2-1 – Mignolet, Can, Skrtel, Sakho, Gerrard (c), Henderson, Ibe, Moreno, Markovic, Sturridge, Coutinho.
