Liverpool held further talks with Burnley yesterday on the prospect of signing striker Danny Ings in the summer.

The 22-year-old emerged as a late target in the January transfer window for the Reds, who considered the idea of signing the Tottenham and Real Sociedad target before loaning him back to Turf Moore for the remainder of the season.

Ings is out of contract at Burnley in the summer, but Liverpool would have to pay compensation for the player as he is under the age of 23.

Reports suggest a deal worth £5million is close to being agreed with the Premier League strugglers, which would see the England Under-21 international make the move to Anfield in June.

Talk yesterday suggested Ings had agreeed a pre-contract deal with David Moyes at Real Sociedad, but the latest reports suggest he is holding out for a summer move to Anfield.
