Liverpool are attempting to complete the £17million signing of Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen before the close of the transfer window, according to Metro.

Brendan Rodgers is keen to sign a goalkeeper to replace Simon Mingolet, who has made more errors than any other Premier League goalkeeper this season.

Despite the Belgian keeping four clean sheets in his last six matches, Rodgers is ready to pay the £17million asking price for the 22-year-old German goalkeeper, and hopes a deal can be completed before Monday’s 11pm deadline.

Ter Stegen only completed a £9million move to Barcelona from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer, but has struggled for regular first team football at the Nou Camp, with manager Luis Enrique preferring Claudio Bravo between the sticks.
