Liverpool will put their move for Manchester City midfielder James Milner on hold until the summer, according to various reports today.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the England international, who is out of contract at the Etihad in the summer.

He has seen his first team opportunties limited over the past couple of years, and is therefore unlikely to sign a new deal.

Brendan Rodgers has identified Milner as an experienced midfielder to bring in to cover the departing Steven Gerrard.

The 34-year-old will end his 16 year Liverpool career in May to join LA Galaxy.

Milner has been free to talk to foreign clubs this month with the view to a pre-contract agreement, but the versatile midfielder is keen to remain in the Premier League, with the Reds firm favourites to secure his services.

One response to “Reds will wait until the summer to sign Manchester City star”

  1. Geoff Price says:

So Rodgers in his latest press interview has stated that he will be unlikely to sign anyone in January. He will go with what he’s got, read into this what you will. Does he think that this squard is good enough, if he does this only goes to show that he really is deluded.

The other reason could be that the owners do not have any faith in him after bankrolling him during the summer. If this is the case how can you blame John Henry and co, would you trust this guy…..most certainly NO. He’s wasted what money was available to him, out of touch and out of his depth.

FSG it’s over to you, how long will you tolerate this poor excuse of a manager….and bring only the best to this club we deserve it. YNWA
