Liverpool are set to go head-to-head with Manchester United for the Paraguayan teenager dubbed ‘the next Sergio Aguero’, according to the Daily Star.

Reports in Italy claim both clubs are holding talks with 16-year-old sensation Sergio Diaz, who is valued at around £6million.

The youngster has made his name with Cerro Porteno of the Paraguayan Premier Division, for whom he made his debut at just 15.

Diaz fired eight goals in his first season, having previously caught the eye by scoring 30 in one campaign for the Under-15 side.

He is considered to be one of the hottest prospects in world football, and has been likened to Manchester City star Aguero – of whom he is a big admirer.

He said: “I am like Kun Aguero – I have the same characteristics, including speed and goals, and I scored 30 goals for for the U15 team.”

Cerro Porteno’s Under-15 coach Diego Gavilan added: “He [Diaz] is definitely like Aguero. He’s strong, technical and his main objective is to find the goal.

“He scored 33 goals in less than six months, something that no young player has ever done here.”

It remains to be seen whether the reported talks prove successful.

If anyone needs to improve its you numb nuts, Rodgers you are nothing but a big joke, you really have no clue do you. You play people out of position, you make too many changes, and you want to extend some senior players contract when their clearly past their sell by date. Your first two signings for this club are not what we need, but of course you had them both with you at Swansea. Since then you have continued to bring in sub standard players with the exception of Sturridge and Courtino. Just what the hell do you take us supporters for, we know our football and you are just a wee apprentice learning your trade…..and so far not doing too good are you.

You are OVERATED but certainly not by me and many other supporters. Have you not stepped back and had a long hard luck at yourself, maybe you should because you are not what you think you are. I suppose when your so arrogant you don’t see yourself as inept and tactically clueless, and so embarrassing with your comments and excuses.Maybe we should sack the groundsman, it’s quite clear he is not doing his job….the poor state of the pitch….is that not what you said in your after match excuses…..poor playing surface……my god you really are pathetic.
