Crystal Palace target Rickie Lambert will not be allowed to leave Liverpool this January, reports the Liverpool Echo.

The 32-year-old has emerged as a transfer target for newly appointed Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew, having only managed two goals and five Premier League starts since his summer move from Southampton.

Lambert has managed 10 starts in all competitions this season, and with Daniel Sturridge set to return from injury shortly his game time is likely to be restricted further.

However, Brendan Rodgers signed Lambert as an alternative option in the summer, and wants to keep him as plan B until the end of the season at least.

Mario Balotelli (two goals in 17 appearances) and Fabio Borini (no goals in 12 appearances) have both been linked with January exits, which may well depend on whether Liverpool can agree terms to bring Divock Origi back from his loan spell at Lille early this month.

Origi signed for the Reds for £10million in the summer, and has six goals in all competitions for Lille so far this season.
