Liverpool have predictably missed out on another top transfer target, with widespread reports claiming Xherdan Shaqiri has completed his move to Inter Milan.

Reports over the past week have suggested the Reds were in pole position to sign the Swiss international having offered a more lucrative contract, but once again it seems they have been beaten to a major transfer target at the last moment.

Reliable Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported early that Inter Milan were able to close the deal for a reported figure of €20m to sign the player permanently.

The news begs the question – how on earth does Ian Ayre still have a job?

How long is it going to be before people get the message and finally believe that Liverpool are not going to buy anyone? LFC are doddering around in a fog being the only club thinking they are going to progress spending the bare bones on second-hand cast-offs from other clubs. They are a selling club now and will remain such whilst FSG is in charge. They are quite firmly “also rans” in the world of football who will be lucky to get 12th place in the premiership as they talk a great game but never provide one.

..there is no Will at LFC, there is no viable transfer policy/system in place at LFC, there is no tangible ambition except in theory at LFC.
it would seem incompetence in LFC management is acceptable. bring back Kenny Dalglish, at least he loved LFC enough to justify his mistakes. YNWA

Why always Liverpool; just moves at the last minute after learning that a deal has been finalized by another club to disguise that they had an interest a player. If iner Millian took the player on loan how could someone with cash fail. Be fair to us we also understand, tell us the truth. Ian Ayre is the at a wrong place can not make our team progress, its not once or twice sack him

Christ you lot are idiots. Not one respected Merseyside journalist ever said we were interested in Shaqiri (in fact multiple said we weren’t) so how are you crying about a missed target when he wasn’t ever a target?

Unfortunately right now no top players are going to want to go to Liverpool. The club has almost no chance of qualifying for Champions League and Rodgers does not have the ability to attract players either.
