Liverpool are set to complete the £23million signing of West Brom striker Saido Berahino in January, according to various reports.

The England Under-21 star has scored eight Premier League goals for the struggling Baggies during the first half of the season, and has attracted the attention of both Liverpool and Tottenham.

But the Reds are set to make a massive £23million bid as soon as the transfer window opens in the hope of seeing off any competition for his signature.

The club are hoping the current uncertainty surrounding the future of West Brom boss Alan Irvine will play a part in the deal being completed promptly.

Brendan Rodgers is eager to bring in another forward this winter, with Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini having managed just one Premier League goal between them in the absence of Daniel Sturridge.

Should have spent the money on someone proven, experienced and 20goals a season stats. Someone like higuain, bony or benzema(only if the fee was less than 50mil quoted in the press).

The current senerio is that we need real quality and experienced striker to push on for top 4 not acquire youngsters, which can be done over the summer or via our youth academy system.
