Louis van Gaal says former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is free to move to Liverpool, having previously trained at Manchester United.

The Dutchman has grown frustrated with stories linking the Spanish goalkeeper with a move to Old Trafford, and said he was free to join the Reds at his pre-match press conference today.

It’s only talk from you,” the United boss said about media reports linking the player with the club. “Not from us, not from Valdes, only the media. I’m not here to inform the media.

“You have to wait and listen and see.

“If Liverpool are interested, he goes to Liverpool. The media are suggesting and that’s a big mistake. That’s why I’m always angry because you are inventing stories. There are no stories.

“He is training here. I give him the possibility to do that. We shall see.”

Liverpool are in the market for a new goalkeeper, with Brendan Rodgers having dropped Simon Mignolet from the starting line up ‘indefinitely.’
