Liverpool are lining up a January move for Tottenham star Jan Vertonghen, according to various reports.

The Belgian has struggled for form and fitness under Mauricio Pochettino this season, and has consistently been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane should Tottenham fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Whilst the Reds position in next season’s competition is far from assured, reports suggest the Reds will make a January move as Brendan Rodgers looks to sure up his leaky defence.

Liverpool have managed just four clean sheets in 15 Premier League matches this season, although two have come in the last three matches since Kolo Toure has been restored to the starting line up.

Vertonghen has already hinted he won’t be signing a new contract at Tottenham, meaning the club could look to sell this winter in the hope of recouping some of the fee they paid Ajax for the 27-year-old back in the summer of 2012.
