Brendan Rodgers could pay Lille an extra £5million to bring Divock Origi to Anfield early, following the news Daniel Sturridge is set to be ruled out for a further six weeks with a thigh injury, reports the Daily Mirror.

Liverpool have been rocked by the news Sturridge is set to be out until the new year, with the forward having already missed the Reds last 14 matches in all competitions.

Liverpool have managed just five victories in that time – with two of those coming in the Capital One Cup – whilst Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini have failed to score in the Premier League.

The Reds paid Lille £10million for Origi in the summer, who moved on the condition he would spend the duration of the 2014-15 season on loan with the Ligue 1 club.

The forward – who has not scored a league goal since late September – claimed he was ‘frustrated’ with the situation last week, and despite Lille’s public claim the loan deal will not be cut short, the Reds are hoping a £5million fee will see Origi return in January.
