Javier Manquillo has given his backing to Brendan Rodgers, claiming the Liverpool manager is helping the players through a difficult run of results.

The Reds lost three consecutive matches in all competitions prior to the international break, a run that has seen some reports claim Rodgers finds himself under pressure.

But Manquillo insists the 41-year-old has helped him to settle since his summer arrival from Atletico Madrid, with the 20-year-old yet to come to terms with the English language.

“Brendan Rodgers speaks Spanish and that has helped me and Alberto Moreno to understand what he wants us to do,” he said.

“The results will come because we’re working well.

“There are many new players, but it’s no excuse. We will be at the level that Liverpool demands soon.

“I’m adapting. It’s one of the hardest things to do but I have help.

“Jose Enrique and Suso are some of my guides here. The Spanish players get together often and we spend our afternoons together.”
