Steven Gerrard has cast doubt over his Liverpool future, after admitting he could leave in the summer if the club don’t offer him a new deal, reports the Daily Mirror.

The 34-year-old has been the heart and soul of Liverpool for almost 15 years, and has made almost 700 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Gerrard is only contracted until the end of the season, and says whilst he plans to play on beyond the end of the current campaign, it will only be at Anfiled if the club decide to offer him a new deal.

“I’m only contracted until May. As it stands, I’m here until the end of the season and want to make the most of it”, he said.

“I certainly won’t be retiring this summer. I will play beyond this season.

“We’ll have to wait and see if that’s at Liverpool or some where else.

“That’s Liverpool’s decision. If they don’t come then I will see what’s out there.”

Gerrard has played every minute of the Premier League season so far for the Reds, and proved instrumental in the Reds title challenge last term, scoring 13 goals and providing 15 assists.
