Former England international and famously outspoken football pundit Rodney Marsh is one of those ex-pros desperate to stay in the limelight by saying the most controversial – and usually stupid – thing possible.

And today the Sky Sports reject had his say on Steven Gerrard, calling up talkSPORT to offer his opinion on the Liverpool skipper, saying he believes he should have retired in the summer.

“Steven Gerrard looks finished,” he said. “I’m Gerrard’s greatest fan and he’s been a world class player for many years.

“At the start of the season I said Steven Gerrard would be playing one year too many, and it looks exactly like that now.”

I look forward to seeing Stevie prove him wrong over the course of the season.

Do you think Steven Gerrard looks ‘finished’? How many years does he have left in a Liverpool shirt? Let us know your thoughts below.

Gerrard is not finished but he is a shadow of his former self . Will never understand why Rodgers did not take Alex Song on loan . Emre Can is not the answer . Stevie should now only be used as an impact player . He cannot play the full 90 mins .

sadly have to admit and agree with Rodney Marsh.
instead of buying loads of rubbish, the manager should have bought maybe only three players – a MAT HUMMELS, a MARCO REUS and a DIEGO COSTA or FALCAO.

How on earth would you expect Liverpool to manage if they had just signed 3 players, they would never be able to last the whole season and we would have ended up with the u21’s playing due to injuries.

Rodney Who ? Nobody listening to your when me and Bestie did this when me and Bestie did that stories anymore then ? Just do one you parasitic creep . Do you think anyone even noticed it was you with Georgie Best ? And do you think anyone gives a rats arse what you think ?

Stevie G is definitely passed it. He’s an impact player now at best (or he would be if Rodgers had bought an established holding midfielder in Summer). Back to mid-table obscurity we go…

Rodgers will be either managing Northern Ireland or he’ll be back in the Championship within 2-3 years, I just hope he doesn’t take LFC down with him.
