Liverpool have been linked with a surprise move for Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart, after the England number one revealed he has not been spoken to about a new contract, reports the Metro.

Brendan Rodgers is reportedly thinking of signing a new goalkeeper, having become concerned about the leadership qualities of Simon Mignolet.

The Liverpool boss refused to reveal whether he was expecting more from the Belgian international last week, who conceded 50 Premier League goals last season – as well as nine in all competitions already this campaign.

Manchester City signed a new goalkeeper in the summer in the form of Willy Cabellero, and despite some fine performances from Hart of late, he is concerned for his future with the Premier League champions yet to open talks on a new deal.

‘Anything about a new contract is news to me,’ Hart said.

‘I’ve heard nothing. I’ve got a year, nearly two years, left on my deal. That is all I am aware of.’

Hart would have no shortage of suitors were he to become available, with Liverpool amongst them.

The Reds have already been linked with a move for former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, who is currently without a club having seen his contract expire at the end of last season.
