The busiest summer transfer window in Liverpool’s history is finally over – and the international break has given us all a a chance to not only catch up on some sleep, but assess the many in’s and out’s that took place at Anfield over the long summer months.

Brendan Rodgers spent over £100million on nine new signings, whilst Red’s hero’s the likes of Luis Suarez, Daniel Agger and Pepe Reina all left the club on permanent deals.

But perhaps the most frustrating aspect of the summer, was the way in which Liverpool were linked with moves for such a huge number of different players – in every possible position.

Once it became apparent Brendan Rodgers had £75million to spend from the sale of Suarez, transfer rumours went into overdrive.

Here, we have compiled an entire first XI of players – who if reports are to be believed – could have ended up as Liverpool players this summer.

The Transfer XI Liverpool could have had this summer – 4-4-2

I am bitterly disappointed that the Loic Remy deal fell through especially as he has now been signed by Chelsea. If he’s good enough for Chelsea, QPR, Newcastle and the French national team how come he supposedly failed the Liverpool medical? Another disappointment was that we seemingly did not go for Wellbeck. He would have been a perfect strike partner for Sturridge [better than Balotelli I think] and besides being a great buy for Liverpool, their weekly partnership would have benefited the England squad.
