Serie A giants Juventus are lining up a January move for Liverpool defender Glen Johnson, according to the Express.

30-year-old Johnson has entered the final year of his contract at Anfield, and Brendan Rodgers has strengthened the full back positions with the signings of Javier Manquillo and Alberto Moreno.

Johnson is on a reported £110,000 a week at Anfield, and the Reds are reluctant to offer such a lucrative new deal to a player in his thirties.

Brendan Rodgers is reportedly only willing to offer Johnson a one year extension, whilst the former Chelsea man is looking for a longer deal.

New Juventus boss Massimo Allegri is keen to add a new full back to his side, and has identified a cut price deal for the England international as his best option.

Despite making over 140 appearances since joining the club in 2009, there are still concerns amongst Liverpool fans about Johnson’s defensive capabilities, with the full back recently admitting there had been no progress on talks over  a new deal.

“There are no talks going on with the club at the moment,” he said.

“There were minor talks towards the end of the last season but nothing else.

“I’ve loved playing my football here from day one, but obviously I can only talk to the club about it when they want to speak to me.

“In January, I could (talk to other clubs), but I’ll worry about that when January comes.”
