Alberto Moreno is relishing Liverpool’s return to the Champions League, admitting he got goosebumps when he saw the famous trophy at Anfield for the first time.

Liverpool are set to return to Champions League action for the first time in five years in a fortnights time, and Moreno is relishing the occasion.

“Playing in the Champions League is going to be amazing,” he said. “It’s all new for me and I’m really looking forward to it.

“Plus, we have Real Madrid at Anfield and I’ll be wearing Liverpool’s colours… It’s going to be a unique experience.

“I saw the trophy at Melwood and I got goose bumps. Hopefully we can win it this year. Hopefully that day will come.”

The Spaniard is yet to experience playing in the unique atmosphere of Anfield, with his two Liverpool appearances so far both coming away from home.

The 22-year-old starred in the 3-0 win against Tottenham at White Hart Lane, scoring a superb solo goal, and admits he cannot wait to play in front of the home supporters having witnessed them from the directors box during the opening day win over Southampton.

“You realise that it’s something very different.

“You look to the stands and they’re packed. So many people singing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ is incredible. They live for football, they’re so passionate and I’m honoured to be part of the joy they feel when we win a game.”
