Victor Valdes is likely to complete a free transfer to Liverpool, with the Reds having opened initial talks with the Spanish goalkeeper, according to the Independent.

Valdes can move outside of the transfer window, having left Barcelona as a free agent at the end of the season.

The 32-year-old is currently recovering from a knee ligament injury sustained in March, and isn’t expected to return to fitness until November.

His arrival remains dependent on how his recovery from that injury continues, but if all goes as expected, the former Barcelona man will join up with Brendan Rodgers squad next month.

The Liverpool boss is keen to add another top class goalkeeper to his ranks, with Brad Jones currently not challenging Simon Mignolet for the number one position.

Would you welcome the signing of Victor Valdes? Let us know your thoughts below.

Lets sign Valdez, way better then mignolet
mignolet does not know how to keep clean sheets, not world class.Valdez will surely push mignolet down the pecking order.
