Brendan Rodgers insists Liverpool has not become the ‘Mario Balotelli show’, following the controversial strikers £16million switch from AC Milan, reports the BBC.

Balotelli became the Reds ninth summer signing on Monday, and is in line to make his Liverpool debut at Tottenham on Sunday.

But Rodgers insists the Italian will have to fight for a regular first team place at his new club.

“This is not the Mario Balotelli show,” he insisted. “He has a lot of work to do and the star of this team will always be the team.”

Rodgers revealed Balotelli is set to be joined in the Liverpool squad by fellow summer signings Adam Lallana and Alberto Moreno, both of whom have been doubts with injuries.

“Mario is fine,” said Rodgers. “He has settled down very well and looked fantastic in training. He is a good lad. He has done very well.

“Adam will be in the squad, for sure. He has looked fantastic in training. Of course he is well short of match fitness but in training for the last couple of weeks he has been exceptional.”

“Moreno is recovering well but Glen Johnson is probably the one that will struggle to make the Spurs game.”
