Liverpool are ready to offer Raheem Sterling a lucrative new contract in the hope of seeing off reported interest from Real Madrid, according to the Daily Mirror.

Sterling signed a £30,000-a-week contract just 18 months ago, but his superb performances for club and country over the past year have enhanced his reputation, and caught the attention of the Spanish giants.

The Reds are now ready to offer the 19-year-old a deal that will see him QUADRUPLE his wages, after his form last season almost helped Brendan Rodgers side to a shock Premier League title.

Rodgers has been impressed with Sterling’s growing maturity on and off the pitch, and believes the youngster is set to take his game to the next level over the course of the season.

Rodgers said: “This kid is only going to get better. He’s way above the level from when he first came in. Tactically, technically, and what has been beautiful to watch with Raheem has been his maturity.

“He’s turning into a beautiful young man, with all the responsibility. He’s still only 19, but in big games he’s performed and he’s a wonderful talent.”
