Liverpool have been boosted by the news that transfer target Ezequiel Lavezzi has rejected the offer of a new contract with Paris St Germain, according to the Metro.

Lavezzi has struggled to hold down a regular place at the Parc de Princes since his move from Napoli, and with speculation surrounding his future growing, the French champions made the offer of a new contract this week.

However, the Argentine international looks to have rejected that offer, and the Reds have been given the green light to make an offer, with PSG now eager to offload.

The Reds made a previous offer of £17.9million for the 29-year-old, and hope to conclude a deal now that PSG are ready to sell.

Inter Milan and Juventus have also been linked, but both Italian clubs are said to only be willing to take Lavezzi on loan, whilst PSG favour Liverpool’s proposed offer of straight cash.
