Liverpool have submitted a bit of £18million to Paris St Germain for Argentine forward Ezequiel Lavezzi, according to the Daily Star.

The French champions are looking to sell the 29-year-old in order to make room for Angel Di Maria, who they are hoping to sign from Real Madrid in the coming days.

Brendan Rodgers has been on the lookout for a striker since allowing Luis Suarez to join Barcelona for £75million last month.

It looked as though that man was going to be Loic Remy, only for the France forward to fail a medical at the 11th hour.

Juventus have also been linked with a move for the former Napoli forward, but the Reds are hopeful that making an early bid will see them get their man.

PSG have already spent £50million on signing David Luiz from Chelsea this summer, and need to raise an extra £40million to land Di Maria, whilst complying with the Financial Fair Play rules put in place by FIFA.

Is Lavezzi the man to replace Luis Suarez? Let us know your thoughts below.

No way FSG would pay that kind of money for a 29 year old.

We could so with some experience, when you consider Sturridge is our most experienced forward player at 24 – bar Lambert of course, but don’t expect him to feature in big matches.

I would be happy to pay that amount of money for
him, as I am getting concerned that LFC haven’t signed a half decent striker yet. Anybody would swear that Lavezzi is nearly 50 years old!! Get him and then get another striker, because what I have seen so far this summer, we will struggle to get fourth place.
