Liverpool have reignited their interest in Sevilla left back Alberto Moreno, according to sources at the Daily Mail.

Brendan Rodgers is keen to add defensive reinforcements having missed out on Ryan Bertrand, who joined Southampton on a season long loan.

The Spanish international is valued at £20million by his club, although reports suggest the Reds are hoping to strike a deal for £14million after the UEFA Super Cup clash with Real Madrid on August 12.

Sevilla have a decent relationship with Liverpool, having sold Luis Alberto last summer, and having just signed Iago Aspas on a one year loan.

Although the Spanish forward has done little to encourage 20-year-old Moreno to make the move to his parent club.

Aspas told ABC Sevilla: ‘I have not yet spoken with Alberto about Liverpool.

‘Yes, it is true that his teammates have had some banter with him on the topic. But if it’s a question about quality of life, I would say that Sevilla is better than being there, that’s for sure. And I have only been at Sevilla three or four days but now I belong to Sevilla, I would prefer him to stay here.’

Aspas also revealed his excitement in making the return to La Liga, and hopes to stay beyond the one year loan agreement.

He added: ‘After last season when I did not enjoy the minutes I wanted, came the possibility of coming to Sevilla. Immediately I had a lot of enthusiasm about coming here and I hope that everything goes well, not only this year but also in terms of a long-term contract. I can not deny I’m happy.’
