With Brendan Rodgers confirming that Steven Gerrard is set to be out of action for a month, Liverpool have however received positive injury news with Jordan Henderson set to be fit for the Tottenham clash on Sunday.

Henderson picked up a nasty ankle knock against West Ham which led to Kevin Nolan being sent off for the challenge. Henderson was in a protective boot at the start of the week and there were doubts that he could miss the trip to London.

“Jordan trained so he’s fine,” said Rodgers on Liverpoolfc.com . “It was just precautionary the last few days.

“It was a bad challenge that was made on him, but thankfully he’s okay. But we’ll see how he is tomorrow as well.”

With Gerrard set to be out for a month, it is going to be interesting to see how Brendan Rodgers lines up his midfield. It would have been disastrous if Hendo was also out as that would have meant we only have two fit central midfielders in Joe Allen and Lucas. Against Spurs, I would expect to see a midfield trio of Allen, Lucas and Henderson.

What that trio would offer is a lot of energy and running but we will miss the calmness and passing abilities of Gerrard. Spurs will most likely look at the Liverpool midfield and see that as a weakness but they could be surprised as Joe Allen and Jordan Henderson are playing very well at the moment and Lucas will be revved up for the game as he bids to show Rodgers that he should never have been dropped in the first place.
