The ankle injury Daniel Sturridge sustained came as a huge blow for Liverpool, especially the timing of it. With the hectic Christmas period coming up, The Reds needed all their best players fit if we are to continue mounting a serious top four finish charge.

Sturridge has been ruled out for about 8 weeks with an ankle injury but that has not stopped the England striker from continuing to work in the gym. Liverpool’s reserve goal keeper posted a video on Instagram showing Sturridge in the gym working out with his ankle in a protective boot. Talk about determination!

Same old faces in the gym @dstudge. #graft #rewards

Many have wondered how Liverpool will cope without Sturridge; we struggled against Hull without him but against Norwich, he has hardly missed as Luis Suarez put in a masterclass display by grabbing four goals.

Sturridge and Suarez had formed a very lethal partnership before Sturridge’s injury and it is now up to Suarez to carry the load alone, at least until early February.

With the January transfer window coming up soon, it will be interesting to see if Brendan Rodgers goes into the market for a new striker. It would be ideal if a new striker is brought in to help Suarez out in January and beyond. Currently, Iago Aspas is the only other recognised striker available but he has struggled to flourish in the Premier League following his move from Celta Vigo in the summer. Injuries have also not helped the Spaniard but now that he is fit and there is an opportunity for him to play in Sturridge’s absence, we may finally see the best out of him.
