Liverpool are closing in on the signing of 17-year-old Swedish sensation Valmir Berisha, according to reports in the Mirror.

It could be easy for Liverpool fans to believe that we do not need another striker having seen Luis Suarez bag four goal against Norwich on Wednesday. As good as Suarez is, he is going to have some off days and with Daniel Sturridge out injured, Liverpool’s striking options have become limited.

With the January transfer window fast approaching, it would be an ideal time for the Reds to add another striker or two. The Mirror is stating that Liverpool are poised to sign the ‘new Ibrahimovic’ from Halmstads. The 17-year old striker caught many peoples eye as he ended the recent Under-17 World Cup as the top goal scorer.

Berisha apparently says that he has had offers to move to England before but he turned them down. “The most important is the football education, I believe England would be the best option,” he said. “I have rejected clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United, who have invited me for trials.

“There is Real Madrid now, the club of my dreams – I am keen to go there, but I think I will turn it down, unfortunately.”

This could be an interesting signing for Liverpool, although he is only 17-years old, he seems like he is capable of coming into the first team and helping out right away. He certainly has the physique to handle the rigours of the Premier League and he certainly has the skill in front of goal as you can see from the video below.

The worry though could be that Berisha may take some time to get up to speed for our immediate needs in the second half of the season as we look to push for a top four finish.

It seems like Suarez could be staying at Liverpool for the rest of the season which is good news and hopefully he can continue banging in the goals. Sturridge is a big blow for the Reds and hopefully he will be fit again by the start of February and that will almost feel like having a new signing. To help the team out in January, it would be great to bring in an experienced campaigner alongside Berisha.

How can it be “easy to forget that we don’t need another striker” With Sturridge injured and Suarez having an off day against Hull resulting to us losing and then a good day against Norwich resulting to us winning, it should be extremely OBVIOUS that we need another striker. But why a 17 year old??

buy him for the future alongside another striker ie Berbatov. berisha is really good, won the highest goal scorer in U17 world cup in UAE.
