Steven Gerrard has commented about Alex Ferguson’s comments in his autobiography that he is not a top top player. These comments by Ferguson were not well received by many people in the game and the Liverpool captain has now spoken out about them in an interview with Clare Balding, this will air on The Clare Balding Show this Saturday evening, 21.00 BT Sport 1.

Gerrard said on Ferguson’s comments:

“I had a letter off them (Man U) wanting to sign me on a 7 year deal when I was thirteen years of age.”

“I’m a huge fan of Alex Ferguson and what he’s done in the game is fantastic, that’s the reason why he’s sold that many copies in the first week, I was generally a little bit gutted when I read that, the reaction of the papers, when he said I wasn’t a top, top player. But I won’t lose sleep over it, everyone is entitled to their opinion.”

“He tried to sign me in early 2002/2003, he tried to sign me again to play for United, I obviously refused, so I can’t really take it to heart too much. But I’m a bit gutted because I’m a big fan of his.”

Thank goodness Gerrard did not sign that deal when he was thirteen or else we may never have gotten to see the Liverpool star play for his boyhood club. What surprises me is how Ferguson can claim that Gerrard is not a top top player when he tried to sign him TWICE!

Imagine the success he might have enjoyed over his career had he joined United, instead all he will have to look back on is underachievement and mediocrity as reward for carrying his club for years

In this case, he will be no different from a glory monger like some plastics fans like u. Some great players enjoyed so little success in terms of the trophy cabinet because they would rather play for their clubs then to go anywhere else. Just look at Matt Le Tisser, Alan Shearer, Gary Linker etc. But then again u have players who sell their souls for trophies like Owen who became a joke. In any case, Gerrard has won much more than u will ever will win or achieve. Trophies are not everything. The love of the game is.

Everybody knows Ferguson and the techniques he uses to win match. In Manchester united there is no player there that commands respect more than Steven G, an individual that control his club side as a captain and control his national team as a captain deserve some respect in football circle. Gerald is one of the best in this planet. Useless Ferguson, old fool chewing gum ass…fuck you.. We will never walk alone
