The news that many Liverpool fans had been waiting to hear was confirmed on Thursday afternoon by Brendan Rodgers in his Arsenal pre-match press conference; Philippe Coutinho is back and ready to face Arsenal on Saturday.

“He’s been given the all clear by the specialist to come in,” manager Brendan Rodgers told reporters at a news conference on Thursday.“He’s been training for the last few weeks, so he’ll come back into the squad.”

Liverpool had been playing with Victor Moses in the number 10 position and the Nigerian forward had struggled. Last week against West Brom, Rodgers opted to play with Henderson just behind the strikers and he did well. Coutinho has not featured yet for Liverpool in this new 3-5-2 formation but he is tailormade to slot in at the number 10 where Moses and Henderson have played.

Based on Henderson’s brilliant display against West Brom and Coutinho only just returning from injury, Rodgers may opt to start with Hendo on Saturday and bring in Coutinho from the bench if need be.

The return of the Brazilian is a major boost for the side as he had been in fine form before his injury and hopefully he can pick up from where he left and become the supplier of opportunities for Sturridge and Suarez to latch onto.
