Liverpool have been hit with fresh injury news as striker Iago Aspas has been ruled out for up to five weeks.

The Spanish striker has tweeted saying, “Injury yesterday maybe 5 weeks off #YNWA”

This is not welcome news for Liverpool right now as Aspas is really our only out-and-out back up striker for Suarez and Sturridge.

Aspas has not had the best of starts to his Liverpool career as he has failed to get onto the score sheet yet having featured regularly in the absence of Suarez when the season started. During pre-season we saw a lot of Aspas and he looked very good but I guess the Premier League is a big step up from pre-season.

This latest injury will not do him any good as he was trying his best to break into the current Liverpool team. Liverpool will now have to hope nothing happens to Suarez and Sturridge. The next available option would be to field Victor Moses as a striker which is a position he has occupied in the past.

Liverpoolfc.com can confirm Aspas’ injury and say that he tore his thigh muscle in training yesterday.

Get well soon Iago!
