There have been mixed reactions so far this season about Jose Enrique’s performances for Liverpool. The Spanish left back has featured regularly for the Reds with very little competition for his position. Liverpool signed Aly Cissokho on loan to help fill in at the back but the French defender has been injured and thus not able to compete.

Liverpool sent young Jack Robinson out on loan this season to Championship side Blackpool where he has been featuring regularly and playing well. Robinson has been a regular for Paul Ince’s side and the 19-year old left back knows that Liverpool are keeping a close eye on him as he hopes to return to the club and challenge Enrique and Cissokho.

Robinson said: “I haven’t heard from (Liverpool boss) Brendan Rodgers but they have told me they have someone watching every game I play, so that’s good.

“I’m sure they are reporting back to the Liverpool manager.

“Playing games at this level every week is something I haven’t done before, so for the manager here at Blackpool to put me straight in the team is great. I can only thank him for that.”

Whilst regular games for young players are important, the question still remains if they get enough benefit from playing in the Championship. There are suggestions that the level of football in the Championship does not help young players wanting to make the break through into the top flight.

Robinson has already had a few games for the Liverpool first team so he is no stranger to being thrown into the deep end. So this loan spell should be beneficial to him in terms of getting regular game-time, albeit in the Championship. Hopefully he can return better for Liverpool when he does come back.

With regards to Enrique and mentioned earlier that some fans are not happy with his performances, whilst some are content, he is really the only option we have right now at left back and he seems to be slotting in well in the new 3-4-1-2 formation. Enrique did make a mistake against Manchester United in the League Cup but we should not bring him down too harshly for that; all defenders make a mistake once in a while.

It will be interesting to see how Jack Robinson does whilst at Blackpool and how he performs when he returns to the Reds. Should Enrique be worried when Robinson comes back? I think so.

Your not good enough Robinson,so stay at Blackpool.

We should recall him in january if enrique continues to be suspect. The kid shows no fear in attack and defence. I remember the way he shackled walcott on his debut. One for the future.

Bring in Coentrao in Jan then we can gladly stick to 3-5-2. Right now Enrique is not comfortable. He plays well if he has another winger ahead of him. On his own down the left is messing him up

I like that you are sticking up for Robinson, but please learn to spell. You totally undermine your point with your ridiculous text talk.
