Gerrard is hoping for more signings

Steven Gerrard has spoken out about the Liverpool signing’s so far this summer in the match day programme ahead of the game on Saturday against Valencia. The captain is happy with the signings Liverpool have made this summer but he is still hoping there will be more signings made.

“I believe we’ve made some very good signings this summer, with Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing and Doni all coming in,” he said.

“Hopefully there will be one or two more arriving before the transfer window closes.

“You always want competition for places because it’s a long season. Obviously it gives the manager more options and it also pushes the players on because they know not everyone can start every game.”

I would love to know where Stevie thinks the squad still needs strengthening. He is a fan too just like the rest of us and I am sure he has his own opinions. Maybe they are even inline with our thoughts that we still need a centre-back, left-back and a striker?

Agreed but doubt we will get Mata. I would love Hazard buy don’t see it happening….

I would love Cahill or Shawcross – or both?

I think it’s a given that Enrique’s on his way – welcome – but in honesty I’m not that fussed about him…

Agree about a CB, LB, and a RW!! Oh and a back up striker! As far as I’m aware Hazard or Mata could both play on the wing (even though Mata’s a leftie) and behind a striker, so good options. I think Enrique will be our LB also and could do worse! As or centre back I think Cahill would be the best option, but not sure about paying more than £12 million! Hopefully we’re actually looking at some of these players!
