Sunday Rumour: Joe Cole blames lack of sleep for poor season
Why did Joe Cole have a poor debut season for Liverpool? Because he had lack of sleep following the birth of his baby Ruby, this according to The Express.
I had a good laugh when I read this report. I know how hard it can be having a new born baby in the house, you get very limited sleep, but being a professional footballer, you surely can not use this as an excuse to have a poor season for your club. Almost every football player goes through that period in their careers when they are fathers to new born babies. If they all complained about lack of sleep and that affecting their game, then we would have a whole bunch of useless footballers on the pitch.
There is more to Cole’s poor form at Liverpool than just the baby excuse. Whether he will be given another season to prove his worth remains to be seen. The Mirror is reporting that Cole may be given a chance to kick start his career again in Germany with Bundesliga club Hamburg.
QPR, West Ham, Tottenham and Fulham are also said to be interested in the Liverpool midfielder but they are unable to match the reported £90,000-a-week he is currently getting.

any excuse, joe cole please leave the club ,u are useless face facts..
Whats was your excuse when you could’nt get a game with Chelsea?
Absolutely rubbish.don’t tell me u can’t afford an nan
ny with your pay!!!
he’s the one signing you can’t blame hodgson for. everyone thought he would be a great signing, but the chav turned out to be a numpty in his first game and then got injured, and looks like he’s lost it totally.
We’ll have to see if Steve Clarke can get anything out of him, but looks like this is another one we’ll carry due to his wages.
He been playing championship level football at best…
Now making no excuses for him, but I honestly did always wonder why he had such bad black bags under his eyes… Atleast now I know!
As for it affecting his game to the level it’s fallen to is possible…
But at £90k a week, he should be able to do a 12hr shift Stacking shelves in our trophy room and still look sharp!!
