There are rumours circulating today (Monday) that Liverpool have released Milan Jovanovic by mutual consent. Nothing has come from a credible source yet about this rumour. If this is true it would be great news in my opinion as Jovanovic is one of the dead-wood players who earns an extremely high salary that we need to get rid of in order to cut our wage bill.

What I would not be happy about though if this rumour is true is that we let him go for nothing. I would have thought that maybe we could have got £2million for him if we sold him but then again, I wonder who would have been willing to buy him so getting rid of him for free may have been the only option. That fact that it could be by mutual consent is a good thing as we would have had to pay him off what i left on his contract if we really wanted to force him out the club.

The rumours are also suggesting that Jovanovic could already be in talks with the Greek club Olympiakos.

As long as he leaves Liverpool I will be happy at the end of the day. Jovanovic was also not seen in any of the pictures published today of the players back at pre-season training. Maybe he was not present or the camera just decided not to take a picture of him. I am sure more news will break out over the next couple of days, maybe even hours, with regards to this rumour.

great news if true and cheaper than keeping him even if he’s gone for nothing. I believe he was on 120k per week (90k at least), that in itself is almost 1/2 a mill over the month. Good riddance to him a complete and utter flop, probably the worst signing of the lot. Nobody would pay any money for him especially on that sort of wage, it’s lucky we didn’t have to pay for anyone to take him. Best deal of this window so far.

  2. Zahid says:

he was on 60-70k not 120k that was a lie. But even 60k is alot for him, we need to get rid of our deadwood n balance the books, players like Cole, Jovanovich, Poulsen etc need to be offloaded.

P.S. why is there an advert banner at the top advertising Man Utd Matchday VIP? this is a LFC site whether your getting paid money from them or not it shouldn’t be there, the scum belong on their own summy sites……YNWA

we should be happy if it’s mutual consent. What ever we may miss on a transfer fee if nothing compared to his staggering wages!

Yes good news indeed, I was shocked at how badly he performed!!!!!

  5. Trey says:

I hear it will be confirmed officialy tomorrow and he was not at melwood today. One down, ngog, poulsen and konchesky to go. I want joe cole to be given one more season.

  6. The Scarlet Pimpernel says:

Zahid – Slight correction, he was not (as you state correctly) being paid 120k – but neither was he on 60k. I believe the actual figure is somewhere around 100k, but twas only for this year and included his signing on fee.

  7. Mr. Chopper says:

You can’t count his signing-on fee, especially seeing as he was free. I think the press also did that with Cole, too.

  8. Keith says:

Released as in paid a couple of million to leave.

Thank you Rafa for another load of bollocks.

  9. dan says:

Guys doesn’t matter about the exact figure is, but either way it’s a s**t load on money, more than most of us here would earn in a lifetime, I don’t begrudge anyone for earning that sort of money but not for sitting around doing nothing. But I suppose it’s not entirely his fault he was brought here by Rafa as Keith said.

  10. Tony says:

Why are there manc adverts on here????

  11. Dude says:

We really should look at siging more Bosman’s in future. They rarely show anything other than they’re here for the money. Also, there doesn’t seem to be pressure to play them like you would if you’d forked out a large fee for them.

I’m sure there are some good Bosman’s around but in our experience, they’ve not been a great success. Voronin, Cole and Jovanovic. All flops.

  12. Darren says:

Joe Cole is quality if he finds his old form! Maybe he should take a pay as you play deal as he is on a chunck of a wage! Can’t wait for the new season 😀 YNWA

cole, ngog, insua, jovanovic, degan, jones+gulacsi, poulsen, aquilani,el zhar,mavinga.. they have to go, simply not good enough, get de wage bill down and bring in good useful players..

Someone wold pay money for him but not his Liverpool salary too. Even when he is released for free I doubt he can get that kind of money elswhere. Just another example of terrible transfer policy and I hope LFC is over with that. Still there are Cole and Poulsen to get rid of.
