Reports today (Sunday) are suggesting that Liverpool are going to focus their attention on signing Aaron Lennon from Tottenham for £20million. When I first came across this rumour, I was thinking that maybe Liverpool are going to give up the chase on Stewart Downing and rather get Lennon, but that is not the case, Dalglish wants both wingers.

We have been crying out for some pace and width in our squad for a while now and if some how Liverpool are able to get both Downing and Lennon, that would solve all our ‘width’ problems. Lennon may not be the best winger in the game today but he does posses a lot of pace which is needed at times in a game when you are struggling to break a stubborn defence.

Lennon may not be the best crosser of the ball but that can be worked on. His major asset of pace will finally give Liverpool the opportunity to launch counter attacks which is one aspect of our game that has been lacking for a very long time.

Whether Lennon is worth £20million is another story. With the way prices are inflated in the market today, especially for English players, you really can not tell the true worth of a player. The other question to ask is if Harry Redknapp is willing to sell Lennon? Redknapp has said that he does not want to sell any of his star players, namely Bale and Modric but he may have to sell someone so he can have funds to spend this summer.

What do you think of this rumour? Would Lennon be a good signing for Liverpool?

I think he’d be a good buy and his crossing has improved! I agree that his pace and skill would be useful in breaing defenses down, and we have struggled with that in recent years!

Just read on another website that we are going to test the water with a £15m bid, at that price I think he would be a great addition to our team. I believe he has fallen out of favour with Redknapp after being blamed for their champions league demise after they got spanked by Madrid. A midfield of Lennon, Downing, Gerrard, Henderson, Lucas, Spearing, Meireles/Aqualani to provide service to Suarez and Carroll – next season will be interesting!! :-)YNWA

Please no more overated British players

I never thought i would see the day a team finishing sixth and outplayed and had the points snatched away from them by Lennon . Would have the cheek to ask for one of if not the fastest winger in Europe for 15 million when you have just paid 20 for shite who was average to put it mildly in the under 21. Bruce sold us Palacios for 12 million and he slowed dramaitcaly and also turne shite you have bean mugged and the Comoli .K.K Partnership will ruin your once proud club. Lennon will only go to Liverpool to beat you once again and next year with my crystal ball you will finish eight. Spurs with Lennon Drugba and a few others will be second behind Utd third City fourth Arsenal fifth Chelsea and the managers sacked K.K Comoli. and a 34 year old Portuguese Wenger Mancini Keen in all nine managers will be sacked.

@Davspurs: am really sorry 4 u guys. I’ld be scared too if I were u. good luck losin Bale, Modric, and Lennon. Welcome back to the Europa league where u rightly belong.
dont feel too bad though, am sure ur opportunistic team would be back in the Champs league…… next decade as usual.

How come that all of a sudden the english players are worth 20mil+.
Even for untride young players like Henderson? they are totally overated, you only have to look at the england team to see, how crazy this is getting, no technic whatsoever, just run of the mill players.
it is just mad and, whoever pays these inflated prices is even madder!!!

Erik Lamela will be on the move from River Plate, probably available for a fraction of the European players we have been linked with, is a perfect fit with the new buying policy and would bring genuine class to the side, its a no brainer, we have to look further afield or pay over the odds….Lennon is a good option, and would do well for us, but once the european market opens we will see who comes and who goes.
