I was a fan of Jamie Rednkapp when he was a Liverpool player but now that he is a pundit / analyst I do not think he makes the best comments and opinions at times. But this week following the England game against France he came out and said he believes the new Liverpoool owners should sign Karim Benzema from Real Madrid.
We all know that we need a striker to partner Torres or to be cover for him and if we want to be serious and if we have the money for it then we need a big name signing like Benzema. For once I will agree with Jamie Redknapp as an analyst.
Benzema is not getting much game time at Real Madrid and he needs to go to a team where he will play more as his skills and quality deserve that. Benzema is only 22 years old and would fit into the profile the new owners are trying to establish at Liverpool of recruiting young players. The Frenchman is valued at between £15-20 million and for a man of his talent I think it is worth it. If only we had the money to go out and sign him this January but based on reports that we will only spend money in the summer, Benzema may already be scooped up by another club if we wait that long.

We must sign benzema in january, it would be criminal not too, we have heard the owners and comolli saying if a world class player is available they will go all out for him, hell we wouldnt need to go all out for Karim, at 15-20M its a complete steal and could you imagine him up front with Torres on form? Its absolutly frightening but if liverpool are serious and are serious about the top 4 this is the man to sign to begin with, if we dont get him in January we will miss out as you say. Our history alone should intice benzema to the club not to mention he will be playing along side Torres and Gerrard, make him an offer and I would put my house on it he would come.

I don’t rate him, personally i wouldn’t be happy spending more than 10 mill on him. He has been poor for Real and they wont accept a bid for his true value because they paid well over the odds for him in the first place. he is inconsistent at best and that is not what we need right now. If we were going to spend 15-20 mill on a striker then i think there are better options, I would rather that money was put towards a player like Lukaku.

If madrid were looking at Johnson why don’t we exchange for Benzema would be worth a go.

I wish Karizma to go to the Reds and pair with Torrres. He is young and learm much from Torres and Gerard. He benefit the Club very much!

I’d prefer that we wait until the summer and throw everything at Luis Suarez (up to £25m?). Benzema would be a good “budget” alternative though, as he can play in a front 3 (thereby complimenting Torres) and would have a lot to prove to re-establish the reputation that he had gained before joining Real
