Reports today suggest that Rafa is after Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri as cover for Pepe Reina. The Brazilian goalkeeper who plays for Palmeiras is said to be in Europe now trying to sort our his work permit so that he is ready for a potential move to Liverpool. I have tried to do as much research about Cavalieri as I could but could not find much except that he is 25 years old and he is not even the first choice at Palmeiras.

Liverpool definitely need another backup goalkeeper as Charles Itandje is set to leave in the summer and he did not really impress in the few games he played last season. I can not see Scott Carson coming back to Liverpool and being Reina’s under-study. Carson is too good to be sitting on the bench. As much as it would be a great pleasure to have someone as Carson on the bench, I just do not see it happening. Liverpool have also been linked to Fulham’s Antti Niemi and Bordeaux veteran Ulrich Rame in goal.
