£17m for Barry and that’s final

Tagged Under :

Liverpool have made a final bid of £17m for Gareth Barry according to reports. It is now a matter of waiting to hear if Aston Villa have accepted this bid. In all likelihood they will accept it as Barry has made it clear that he wants to leave Villa and join Liverpool. Villa had valued Barry at £18m which I still believe is largely overpriced. Even the £17m bid we have made now, I do not feel Barry is worth that amount. But I hope I am proved wrong and he turns out to be a star player for us.

I think now that the Barry deal is almost 70% done, as I do not see Villa rejecting this new £17m bid, Xabi Alonso is almost certain to be on his wait out of Anfield. As much as it would be a dream to have Alonso, Barry, Gerrard, Mascherano and Lucas in midfield; that would just create chaos as all players will want to play regularly. I wonder what number Barry will get to wear? I hope it is not the number 7 as I do not believe he is worthy of wearing the famous jursey. We should rather keep it for Silva or Villa if they come.
