Liverpools new away kit

Tagged Under :

Liverpool not only has a new home kit for next season but we also have a new grey away kit. Most of us saw the new red home kit at the last home game of the season. I must say I was really impressed and I think it will go well next season. Then I have just seen the new away kit and it immediately brought back memories of the grey away kit we had in the late 80’s / early 90’s when we were still sponsored by Candy.

I remember this kit very well because I had my own replica. I remember the likes of John Barnes and Ian Rush wearing that kit. We were a great team then and hopefully now that we have a similar kit to that worn in the good old days, maybe we will be successful this coming season. Read the rest of this entry »

Crouch to Arsenal?

Tagged Under :

Again, according to the Mirror, it seems that Arsene Wenger may be turning to Peter Crouch to replace his outbound striker Emmanuel Adebayor. With his exit supposedly imminent, the French manager has supposedly set his sights on a number of players, Crouchie among them.

While I think we need to part with him asap (before he leaves next summer on a free), I would hate to see Peter putting in 15-20 goals next term for those people at the Emirates. I would much prefer we find him a more suitable home, preferably one out of direct contention with us.

If he has to go to Arsenal, I should hope it would be for no less than 15 million quid.

Hicks goes to Gillett for Rafa’s warchest?

Tagged Under : ,

According to reports in the Mirror, Tom Hicks may have finally come to the realization that investing in the club on the pitch may help his investment off it.

Apparently the Texan has gone to Gillett with the intention of securing his backing for a push towards Valencia pair David Villa and Silva. Rated at £35 million minimum for the pair this would imply more funds available than simply whatever the manager can sell off to make ends meet.

In my eyes, the “who” matters not as much as the “what” in this instance. I have faith in Rafa’s selections for his squad so long as the owners give him their full backing. It’s time we make that financial step toward the Uniteds and Chelskis of the world. With the new stadium finally showing some progress and the increased revenues that will bring, it’s good to see the side putting on a new face for the move in that direction.

Will this turn out to be simply another “shovel in the ground in 60 days”? Or will we finally see this club heading towards what we all crave.

Voronin says he owes us - No he doesn’t

Tagged Under :

I was reading a report on Liverpoolfc.tv today which was talking about how Andriy Voronin is looking forward to next season and that he owes us the fans after not having a successful season in the previous campaign. I can never say I hate any player that wears the red shirt for Liverpool but Voronin let me down, big time last season. Granted it was his first season in a new country and it takes time to settle in etc. But even if he has 5 seasons in the Premiership, I just do not think he is the kind of player who will get the Kop buzzing and score a bag full of goals. Liverpool reject Crouch bid

Tagged Under :

It is understood that Liverpool have turned down a £9m bid for Peter Crouch from Portsmouth. Apparently Rafa wants £10m for the tall striker. I think Rafa should just accept the £9m and get rid of Crouch and we can have some cash in the bank. It is clear Crouch is not part of Rafa’s plans so he may as well just get rid of him whilst there is an offer on the table. Read the rest of this entry »

Portsmouth interested in Yossi Benayoun

Tagged Under :

Yossi Benayoun could be on his way out of Liverpool this summer if Portsmouth come in and make an acceptable bid. I have had no problems with Yossi ever since he joined Liverpool. I was a bit surprised when we signed him but he held up his own and put in some commanding appearances for us. Yossi is definitely a great squad player and we would need someone like him to stay on and help us push for the Premiership. He will not be a regular starter but he can certainly do a good job coming off the bench. It would be sad to see him leave for Portsmouth but if we are getting a decent amount of cash for him then it is okay as we can use that cash to boost our coffers and sign the likes of Villa and Silva.

“Liverpool is attractive” says David Villa

Tagged Under :

According to a report in The Sun today, David Villa has hinted that he may want to come to Liverpool. The report mentioned Villa saying, “Liverpool is attractive,” and that is all. One can take this in many ways but I hope he means he really would like to come and partner Torres on a regular basis. Come on Rafa, go out and bring the man to Anfield!

Rafa to reject David Villa

Tagged Under :

There is a possibility that coach Rafa Benitez would not take the opportunity to sign David Villa if he had the money. This may come as a shock to many of us who believe that if Liverpool sign David Villa we would be that much closer to winning the Premiership. But Rafa is adamant that the Torres – Gerrard partnership at Liverpool is good enough and that it may be better than the Torres – Villa partnership. Read the rest of this entry »

Rafa lines up David Silva

Tagged Under :

I was reading this morning that Rafa could be turning his attention to Spanish winger David Silva as a possible solution to our winger crisis. I must say, I am happy that Rafa is now focusing on a world class winger like Silva rather than trying to purchase James Milner from Newcastle.

Silva has shown his worth during Euro 2008 and I have been very impressed with his performances. I feel we have the upper hand all the time if we are trying to sign Spanish players as they are more than happy to come to Liverpool. It is suggested that Silva may cost around £15m which I feel would be money well spent. Read the rest of this entry »
