Rafa to reject David Villa

Tagged Under :

There is a possibility that coach Rafa Benitez would not take the opportunity to sign David Villa if he had the money. This may come as a shock to many of us who believe that if Liverpool sign David Villa we would be that much closer to winning the Premiership. But Rafa is adamant that the Torres – Gerrard partnership at Liverpool is good enough and that it may be better than the Torres – Villa partnership.

I think the Torres – Gerrard partnership is great but also having watched Spain play with Torres and Villa in the 2006 World Cup and the current Euro 2008, their partnership is also great. So which partnership would you rather see? On the other hand, if Villa was to sign for Liverpool, Liverpool would have to change their formation to accommodate two strikers. Gerrard started to blossom last season in the position just behind Torres and it would be a shame if he were to leave that position and either go play on the right or go back to central midfield. But Gerrard is a world class player and can play in any position but I feel his best position is just behind Torres and he should stay there and maybe having Torres and Villa would not give Gerrard the freedom he currently has.
