£12m bid for Gareth Barry

It is reported that we made a £12m bid for Barry after having a £10m bid rejected. If these reports are true, it looks like we are really desperate to try securing the services of Barry from Aston Villa. I do not see Aston Villa letting Barry go very easily and they will reject this £12m bid straight away. Now it poses the question; how much are we willing to spend to get Barry?

Personally I do not think Barry is worth more than £12m. If Villa do not want £12m then we should leave this deal alone and either look elsewhere or just be happy with what we have right now in midfield. We do not have the worst midfield in the world, contrary; we probably have the best midfield in the world! I am not too sure why Rafa wants to tinker around the midfield? We have Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano and Lucas. We lost Sisoko and maybe that is why he wants Barry so badly. I hope Barry is not meant to come and replace Alonso as I think Alonso is better than Barry.

Liverpool will be silly to pay more than 12m for Barry. It will be another mediocre signing which will get Liverpool no where! If there way to sign a midfielder they should be looking at the likes of Yaya Toure or Pirlo.

Pirlo would be a dream signing! Can you imagine Pirlo, Mascherano and Gerrard in midfield with Torres upfront, Babel on the left and Bentley on the right!

I am not too sure about this Frank9. Lets be realistic, Pirlo will not come to Anfield, there has not even been any talk about him.

I heard a few rumours about Pirlo but nothing concrete.

Yaya Toure is a good player but he plays a more similar role to Mascherano so we really do not need him.

  1. What we need to buy this summer - [...] the chant “We have the best midfield in the world!” for nothing. There is plenty of talk about Gareth ...
